Colour Pop for Ora Official

So glad to finally be able to share the super fun COLOUR POP editorial I shot for local accessories designers ORA OFFICIAL.

Featuring ORA's new sunglasses designs and bright colours, that were incorporated into the models hair, makeup and wardrobe, the editorial was the epitome of fun and eclectic summer style. Adding to the fun and creativity of the shoot was the artistic and illustrative touches added "in-post" with the help of Khelsie Lee (illustrator) and some of my own post-production "magic". All in all it was a explosion of colour and summer vibes!

The team for this shoot was kinda of on the enormous side for me and included the following cast of characters:

  • Models:
    • Emily Rose [NUMA]
    • Toni McIntire [unsigned]
    • Rachel Sargeant [Leo Management]
    • JEM the wonderdog!
  • MUA: Heidi Cheung
  • Hairstylist: Jen Mathison
  • Stylist: Sarah D'Arcey
  • Designers: ORA Official
  • Illustrator and dog-wrangler: Khelsie Lee

TESTING Testing...

Models, MUAs, hairstylists, wardrobe stylists and photographers all need to stay creative and up to date on trends in the industry. Test shoots are the ideal way for an entire team of creatives and talent to work together to get what they need; whether its to update a portfolio, build experience or the opportunity to try new gear and techniques without wasting a client's time or money. Test shoots enable an entire team to collaborate and create images that are mutually beneficial to all involved.

In a recent test shoot, I had the opportunity to work with a fresh, new model face on the Vancouver fashion scene. Sophia is a stunningly beautiful young woman (imagine Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner rolled into one tall, willowy package!) whose passions include volleyball, academics and being a model. Shot on location in New Westminster, this collaborative test session included the following talents:

  • MUA / Hair: Lyanna Gibert
  • Stylist: Sarah D'Arcey

Sophia is currently represented by Wilhelmina Vancouver

ORA Official Look Book and Editorial Sneak Peek

Great day shooting today with Ora Official and collaborating with them on a new summer line they will be launching very soon. It was so much fun with loads of laughter, good music and great snacks - just my kind of shoot day.

The looks were fun, flirty and COLORFUL and I couldn't have done it without my amazing crew of beauties and stylists. Our massive team consisted of 3 models, an MUA and hairstylist, wardrobe stylist, Ora Official design team, Jem-Jam the wonder pup and her mom (aka wrangler) and illustrator Khelsie.

Here are some sneak peeks from the shoot today. Loads to edit and lots more from this uber-fun shoot to come in the next few weeks. In the meantime...

SNEAK PEEK: Naughty Bits

Dear friend and model Karie Holst has been at me for months (or possibly even a year!) to shoot a boudoir style session with her. While boudoir is not something I shoot alot of, or at all, I was open to the idea and for Karie, I'd do just about anything LOL.

Today was the big day... We decided to shoot in the studio instead of a more staged bedroom / typical boudoir environment and that decision allowed me to play with the light a little more. I really like how it turned out... sexy and strong without it being hoochy; but I'll let you judge that for yourself ;)

Sophia

I had the absolute pleasure of working with a fresh young face named Sophia yesterday.

She is a delightful, natural beauty and talent that I look forward to working with again in the future, that is if she has time for me after she explodes on the modeling world. Well done missy... well done. #onetowatch #freshface #modeltalent #goingplaces #fujixt1 #fujixpro

Look 1: Session 1 - FACE the CANVAS

A personal project where I explore the idea of putting mixed media artwork on a model's face vs. the traditional idea of creating artwork from a model portrait, I'm happy to share some of the final edits from Look 1: Session 1 - FACE the CANVAS.

Working in collaboration with creative MUA/H Evelyn Affleck, hairstylist Jen Mathison and model Sierra Tasi Baker, and inspired by the artwork of Danny O'Connor (aka (DOC)), this painterly makeup application explores colour, texture and shape.

Using a combination of makeup, traditional and non-traditional application tools and actual acrylic paint, the final looks are truly artistic masterpieces. Evelyn, your work on this was outstanding and I'm looking forward to sharing Look 2 from this same session very soon.
