Sometimes it feels like a long time coming... This is one of those moments. When shooting an editorial submission for magazine publication consideration, you are often shooting on spec. and months in advance of publication seasons/deadlines. You try to forecast ahead to the new fashion trends, review colour palettes and try to capture the spirit coming season. Sometimes you miss the mark and your editorial isn't picked up. It happens. Then sometimes there is a light in the tunnel, the stars align and you hit the editorial nail on the head; publication submission accepted. This time we hit the nail on the head - hoorah!
Published in the Fall 2014 issue of Like Magazine, this latest editorial captures the transitional fashion styling we are all currently experiencing in Vancouver. Its still sunny, warm through the day, but there is a definite chill in the air come evening. When it comes to fashion, that means light layers and a softening of colours to the more neutral and jewel tone palette of Fall. Gone are the hot pinks, sun soaked oranges and chartreuse greens... What we see emerging are deep blue hues of navy and cobalt, burnt oranges and rich browns, dark teal and classic taupe; its a Fall colour palette that makes my heart sing.
I have to thank my brilliant, girl-power fueled team for their hard work on this shoot, putting up with tempermental summer weather and the layers of fine dust that coated everything while on location. You were troopers and I truly appreciate your creativity and energy. You inspire me.
